Dear Santa: All I want for Christmas is books on writing

Posted by Jill Van Wyke

If friends and family are asking you for holiday gift ideas, perhaps you’ll find something on this list of top 25 books for writers from writer/editor Meryl Evans.

The top four?

I’ve read all four and highly recommend every one of them.

Also on the list, at No. 10, is Roy Peter Clark’s “50 Writing Tools.” Coming in at No. 24 is the AP Stylebook.

One title not on the list is “Writing for Story” by Jon Franklin, on long-form narrative journalism writing.

Anybody have any other recommendations for writing books not on this list?

  1. Thank you! I’m delight you find the resource useful. I’m still reading my way through the list. Thanks for the Franklin recommendation. Look forward to more… not that I need them when I’ve got a lot to read.
