Class Thursday, Dec. 2, will be an optional work session. You may use the two hours to work on your editing projects. I’ll be available to help. This will be an informal, come-and-go-as-you-please session.
Please note as you work on your editing projects: The JMC labs are open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Friday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays. They are closed on Saturday, unless Associate Dean David Wright hears an outcry from students who want them open.
For Tuesday, Dec. 7, please read:
- Working With Words, Parallelism: chapter 5, pages 91-92 in the 7th edition; (pages 88-89 in 6th edition)
- Coaching Writers chapters 16 and 17 , “How To Get Coached” and “Copy Editors as Coaches”
- Writing Tools 46 and 48
We’ll also take our last tricky word quiz. Here is the study sheet; it was also sent in an email Tuesday afternoon.
Also on Tuesday, we’ll do the end-of-semester course evaluation.
- NNET’ers: Editing project phase 2 due Thursday (cutline and headline writing); turn in 11×17 hard copy by end of class
- Mag majors: Editing project phase 3 (flow manuscript into layout; titles, cutlines, liftouts, etc.) due Dec. 7. Turn in black-and-white printed spreads on 11×17 paper.
